Tommy and Tuppence Casting News

We already knew that David Walliams would play Tommy in the BBC’s upcoming Partners in Crime, a new adaptation of Agatha Christie’s series about the crime-solving couple Tommy and Tuppence Beresford. Now the casting for the wife has also been announced: Call the Midwife‘s Jessica Raine.

While the original Tommy and Tuppence solved crimes from the 1920 till the 1970s (making them the only Agatha Christie-characters that age over the course of the books) Partners in Crime will be set only during the 1950s.

For the first season two stories will be adapted in three parts each: First The Secret Adversary,  the first Tommy and Tuppence story (and only Christie’s second novel) and then N or M. The book is originally set during the Second World War and features the couple hunting Nazi spies, an activity that might be more complicated (and less useful) if it’s done in the 1950 but we’ll see.

English student who spends a lot of time reading, mostly crime and fantasy, both YA and non-YA. I also enjoy the occasional historical novel (The Anarchy, lately also Age of Sail) and various non-fiction/true crime books. My non-bookish interests include knitting and crime-shows.
