Daniel Radcliffe seems to be a big fan of literary adaptations. After starring in that series based on the books about the wizard and that school where people keep dying, Radcliffe has gone on to appear in a number of both high profile and low budget indie projects based on everything from British gothic thriller to little known Russian memoirs to modern horror. With a supporting role in Frankenstein as well as the adaptation of J.T. Rogers’s Tokyo Vice on the way, the best looking actor in his height range has signed on to appear in the upcoming film of Dave Eggers’s You Shall Know Our Velocity, as reported in the LA Times.
Eggers’s first novel, published in 2003, follows a man on his journey to take a late friend’s ashes around the world as he gives away his friend’s insurance pay-out. Shooting is scheduled to take place in Spring of 2015, meaning Radcliffe will have plenty of time to fit in his numerous other projects, including his current Broadway run of The Cripple of Inishmaan.
Eggers is no stranger to film, having written the screenplay for both Away We Go and Spike Jonze’s adaptation of Where The Wild Things Are. The film will be directed by Peter Sollett, best known for the adaptation of Nick & Norah’s Infinite Playlist, and adapted by the brilliantly named Wells Tower, a writer of short stories and non-fiction.
