Ever heard of the Japanese novel ALL YOU NEED IS KILL by Hiroshi Sakaruzaka, released in 2004? Probably not, even though it’s been translated into English and on American shelves for awhile. That didn’t stop the director of Mr. and Mrs. Smith, Swingers, and The Bourne Identity (wait, how is Swingers related to either of those?) from giving it an adaptation with a star-studded cast headlined by Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt. It’s apparently about a soldier who wears an exo-suit (think the novel of STARSHIP TROOPERS – not the movie) who pulls a Groundhog Day and relives his death over and over again in an alien invasion battle until he one day doesn’t.
Hey, it doesn’t look half-bad really, but Tom Cruise is deceiving.
