Alexandra Cooper at HarperTeen has acquired the next two novels from Sex & Violence author Carrie Mesrobian. The as-yet untitled books will continue in the same vein of gritty realistic fiction; the first book is scheduled for fall 2015. Michael Bourret at Dystel & Goderich Literary Management negotiated the deal for North American rights. – Publishers Weekly
Mesrobian’s debut Sex & Violence was a finalist for the 2014 William C. Morris Award, which honours debut authors and their young adult releases.
Tez Says: YA fiction needs more dark, contemporary fiction, so Carrie Mesrobian’s books are really appealing (unfortunately I haven’t read them yet). Sex & Violence in particular sounds fascinating, about a teen guy trying to separate the two titular things. The upcoming Perfectly Good White Boy (due out October 2014) centres on a teen guy who gets dumped after losing his virginity.
