You might know him as one part (or the only part sometimes) of John Green’s favorite band, The Mountain Goats, or you might know him for his work as a contributor to Decibel Magazine, or you might have never heard of him, but John Darnielle can soon add novelist to his list of achievements. Farrar, Strauss, and Giroux announced recently that they will be publishing his debut novel, WOLF IN WHITE VAN. All we know so far is that it’s about a recluse from society due to a disfiguring injury suffered at age 17. Color me intrigued.
Author Daniel Handler had this to say about WOLF IN WHITE VAN:
“John Darnielle’s novel moves through the mind like a dark-windowed car through a sleepy neighborhood, quiet, mysterious, menacing, taking you places you will never, never get out of your head.”
From musician to poet to editor, Darnielle has a very interesting career. John Green having him as part of the Evening of Awesome last year didn’t hurt his career, either.
Look for WOLF IN WHITE VAN coming this October.
